One of the most popular coupons apps is Ibotta. It may look confusing at first, but it’s actually quite simple once you learn to navigate it. I have saved over $700 using Ibotta, so it is well worth learning how to use it! I’ll be doing step by step instructions with pictures to make it as clear as possible!
First, if you haven’t done it yet, you’ll have to make an account. You can do that here! Please note: Some users have reported issues creating an account on their phones. I recommend creating an account on a desktop computer first by clicking this link, then downloading the app on your phone and signing in. By going through this link, you will get $10 when you submit your first rebate within 7 days of opening your account!
After you download and open Ibotta, it will look like this:
Click on the “Find Rebates” button on the bottom of the screen to see the different rebate categories.
There are many different categories for rebates, such as Grocery, Pharmacy, Clothing, Restaurants, Mobile Shopping, and many more. For the purposes of this website, we will mostly be focusing on the Grocery and Pharmacy sections, but don’t worry – if there’s a great deal in another section, I will let you know about it! So I’ll go ahead and click on the grocery category:
Clicking on the grocery category will bring up different stores. Your stores may look different than mine depending on what stores are in your area. The stores that show up in your list will be ones that are local to your area. I’ll go ahead and click on Walmart:
Once I click on Walmart, there will be all the different rebates available. Near the top will be categories like “For You”, “What’s Hot” and “What’s New”, but as you go down they will break the rebates down by different categories such as Frozen Food, Beverages, Snacks, and many others, so it’ll be easier to find. And if you ever want to search for a rebate, click on the magnifying glass at the top and you can type in what you’re looking for! So now let’s say I want to submit for a rebate on the Nutella & Go. I click on the picture of Nutella & Go, and it looks like this:
The first step is to click on the pink plus sign to unlock it. They usually have you answer a question or watch a video to unlock the rebate. Once unlocked, click the back button and go to the bottom of the screen where it says “Redeem”.
Walmart has you scan the QR code on the bottom of the receipt. If no QR code is printed on the receipt, you can take a picture of the receipt instead.
After you take the picture of your receipt, sometimes it will be able to tell from your receipt what you bought. If for some reason it didn’t find all your items, you can select the items that you purchased.
It will then ask you to scan the barcode of the item.
Some rebates will allow you to redeem them multiple times per receipt. For example, there is a Suave Professionals Styling rebate that will allow you to buy two and redeem the rebate twice. Check the “Details” section on the rebate to see if it is one that you can redeem more than once.
And that’s it! Once the rebate is processed, it is deposited into your Ibotta account. Then you can transfer the money over to your Paypal account.
Ibotta will also have bonuses from time to time for redeeming a certain amount of rebates, and when they do I will post them on here!
Each month Ibotta will have a teamwork bonus. This is where having friends with Ibotta pays off, because you work together to get your bonus! For example, this June the bonus is to redeem 8 rebates, and your team has to redeem $10.00 in rebates. It’s a nice way to get a little bonus when you’re already redeeming rebates!
That’s about all there is! If you have any questions please post them in the comments, and I will update this thread as needed! If you haven’t downloaded the app yet, be sure to do so here!
